Part 2: STUCK in Canada – New connections and sad goodbyes…

Hello Ontario! With our delays in BC, our 2+ week trip to Ontario was cut in half, so we had a jam packed plan to see and do as much as possible.

This was the first time Paul and I met each other’s family (aside from my Mom), before taking off on our journey across the world.

It was a great way to feel connected to each other’s roots and learn more about the people and places that have influenced who we are today.

We spent our limited time chatting with new and familiar faces, swimming with a snake, hiking through an old growth forest, playing card games for hours, trying new family recipes, playing ‘one eyed peek-a-boo’, having a close call with a bear on the highway, and bonding over a good ol’ campfire and s’mores. It wasn’t all fun and games. We learned a few things along the way.

10 Things I Learned:

1. I wish I could teleport across the world! We miss everyone

2. Diners in small towns are the best!

3. Snakes can unexpectedly show up when you’re swimming

4. The ‘simple things’ can bring the biggest joys

5. I need to spend more time keeping in touch with loved ones

6. There are many beautiful places in Ontario I haven’t seen yet!

7. Paul and I are ‘Hand and Foot‘ Champions

8. The precise timing required for a ‘jump shot’

9. Photo booths are so fun and nostalgic

10. Good advice can be found when you least expect it (even at East Side Mario’s)
