Part 1: STUCK in Canada! – A Blessing in Disguise

Finally, the move is done! Off to Ontario for goodbyes, then Rome. Right!?

Not so fast. Remember that teeny part I mentioned about Paul passing his motorcycle license?

Well, there was a bit of a hiccup. Paul completed a Safety Course years prior that guaranteed he would be fully licensed afterwards. It turns out, there was a mix-up in the paperwork or a misunderstanding because he had to start the 3 Step licensing process from the beginning! Luckily, we still had a few weeks before departure. No problem. We’ll get ‘er done.

Unfortunately, Paul’s 1st attempt was unsuccessful.

Time to regroup! We canceled our tickets to Rome and Ontario, and booked a single flight for me to Kamloops to meet up with Paul for his 2nd attempt. At this point, we were fully moved out of the farm and shifted our plans to ride the motorcycle across Canada!

The universe had, yet again, other plans for us. Paul’s 2nd attempt was unsuccessful as well. If that’s not a sign from the universe to slow down, then I don’t know what is.

With Paul in a temporary state of shock while still trying to run his business and me trying to scramble to find last minute accommodations while we wait 30 days for his 3rd attempt, it was a blessing in disguise. 

We stumbled on a beautiful Airbnb in Vernon secluded up in the hills. It was exactly what we needed to recharge, get any last minute things organized, plan a new Ontario trip and prepare for a motorcycle ride through the Canadian Rockies to fly from Calgary to Rome instead.

After spending 10+ years living in British Columbia and pretty minimal time in the Okanagan, we were pleasantly surprised by how much the area has to offer.
